As is well known, the Seiko 5 Sports line of affordable sports watches is currently very popular, with new series and collections constantly being released in various styles and themes to keep the market entertained. This time, the theme is classic racing cars, and the collection is called Racer’s Heritage. The design and color scheme are inspired by classic racing cars from the 1970s and 1980s, where speed and design are seamlessly blended to create a unique and beautiful style.
The ‘Retro GT’ model, model number SRPL49K, features a wide orange band flanked by double horizontal lines across the center of a silver ‘Sunray’ brushed dial. The date and day window is framed in silver with black numerals and initials. The hour markers are rectangular black bars, mirroring the shape of the hour and minute hands, and are coated with cream-colored ‘LumiBrite’ luminous material. A slender black seconds hand is also included. All of this is surrounded by a sloping bezel with alternating silver and black stripes printed with alternating colored scales. The orange band is inspired by the stripes on ‘Gran Turismo’ (GT) racing cars. Logos and text on the dial are in black.
